The "Baby Doe" mystery broke open due to a tip to Boston Police detectives, leading police to identify the child and arrest her mother and her mother's boyfriend.
"I'm a mother. As a mother, it's unimaginable someone would do that and I'm just glad I was able to have a small part in giving Bella a name," said the woman who called in the tip. FOX25 has agreed not to identify her.
"It's a criminal investigation and there a lot of things surrounding it that are not for me to say at the moment," she said.
The tip helped investigators put the pieces of the puzzle together, leading them to search a Dorchester apartment and finally put a name to the child - Bella Nevah Bond.
Police charged Rachelle Bond, Bella's mother, and her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy. McCarthy is facing a murder charge and is currently in the hospital due to a medical condition. Bond is charged with accessory after the fact.
Sources told FOX25 that McCarthy allegedly punched Bella because he believed she was possessed. The source also says he allegedly kept the 2.5-year-old's body in a refrigerator before disposing of it in a trash bag.

"It's about her and getting her justice and proper burial and I just hope she's at peace," said the tipster.
Rachelle Bond has been arrested on charges involving drugs and prostitution in the past. The property manager of the Fitchburg Home where she used to stay years ago said, "She was doing nothing but drugs and prostitution."
We also learned bond has two other children and the state terminated her parental rights.
"She didn't impress me at all I just didn't want her around. Bum money and pawning the kid off with my wife. It was wrong," said the property manager.
Bond and McCarthy are scheduled to be in Suffolk County Court Monday.
