What to know now:

1. Orlando shooting investigation: Regular patrons of the Orlando nightclub where Omar Mateen shot and killed nearly 50 people, say he was a regular there, and had been for some time. Mateen had been seen drinking at the gay nightclub one man said. Another claims Mateen was active on a gay dating and chat app.  The investigation into what led Omar Mateen to shoot up the bar is continuing.

2. Lil Wayne: Rapper Lil Wayne was taken to Nebraska hospital Monday after his plane made two emergency landings when the singer suffered from seizures in flight.  Wayne's plane was diverted to an Omaha airfield after the singer suffered a "medical emergency." Treatment was denied there, and the plane took off again. Wayne apparently suffered a second seizure and the plane returned to the field and Wayne was taken to the Creighton University Medical Center. Wayne, whose given name is Dwayne Michael Carter, has been open about is battle with epilepsy.

3. French police officers killed: A French police officer and his partner, who was the mother of his child, were killed Monday by a man who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State. The man broadcast the attack where he stabbed the senior police officer and his partner live on Facebook, according to CNN. The attacker seemed not to know what  to do with the couple's 3-year-old child. A SWAT team killed the assailant before he could harm the child.  French President Francois Hollande said the murders were  "unquestionably a terrorist act."

4. Trump says no to WaPo: Donald  Trump, who turns 70 on Tuesday, announced Monday that because of "incredibly inaccurate coverage" he is "revoking" Washington Post's reporters access at his campaign events. Explaining his decision, Trump called the paper "phony and dishonest." The paper's editor, Marty Baron, said Trump's decision "is nothing less than a repudiation of the role of a free and independent press."  Trump has also blocked Politico, Univision, The Daily Beast, The Huffington Post and BuzzFeed.

5. Defense bill: The Senate is expected to vote on a $602 billion defense policy bill Tuesday.  President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the bill that would stop the administration closing the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The bill would also block a new round of military base closings.

And one more

The final primary of the 2016 presidential election season will be held in Washington D.C. Tuesday. Democrats will choose between Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Roque De La Fuente. D.C. Republicans voted in March.  Florida Sen. Marco Rubio won 10 delegates and Ohio Gov. John Kasich won 9 delegates.
