What to know now:
1. Cruz takes Iowa: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won the Republican Iowa caucuses Monday as he came out on top of front-runner Donald Trump. Cruz took 28 percent of the vote to Trump's 24 percent, with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio posting a strong third place, garnering 23 percent of the vote. Cruz said the win was "a victory for courageous conservatives across Iowa and all across this great nation." Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced he would be suspending his campaign after getting only 2 percent of the vote in Iowa.
2. Clinton, Sanders in a tie: With the Democratic contest too close to call, Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-Vt.), both declared themselves winners before packing up in Iowa and heading to New Hampshire for that state's primary. At the end of the night, Clinton had 49.9 percent of the vote and Sanders had 49.6 percent. Votes were still being gathered in a few precincts. In at least three caucuses sites, the results were so close that Democratic Party officials ok'd a coin toss to determine who would get the win. Clinton won the toss in all three precincts – Des Moines, Davenport and Ames -- the Des Moines Register reported. The third Democratic candidate in the race, Martin O'Malley, announced he would be suspending his race after Tuesday's results.
3. Groundhog Day: Sick of the cold weather? Then you better pray for rain in Pennsylvania today. It's Groundhog Day and the most famous of groundhogs, Punxsutawney Phil, is set to emerge from his den where he will either see his shadow and we'll get six more weeks of winter, or not, and we can plan on an early spring.
4. Florida death penalty: The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments Tuesday on whether an execution set for next week should take place. Last month the U.S. Supreme Court found the application of the state's death penalty flawed since it allows judges, and not a jury, to determine if someone can be sentenced to death for a crime. The case under consideration Tuesday involves Cary Michael Lambrix. Lambrix was convicted in 1983 of killing a couple he had invited to his trailer for dinner.
5. OJ revisited: "The People v. O.J. Simpson" begins its 10-week run on FX Tuesday. The miniseries features Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, with Simpson's "dream team" of lawyers played by Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian. The story looks at Simpson on trial in the weeks and months following the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
And one more
Nearly everything about traveling by plane has become a chore – long check-in lines, shoes off through security, the heartbreak of a bag that just can't make it into the overhead bin. But there's some good news today, air travelers. That bag of pretzels is back. On Monday, American Airlines became the latest carrier to announced the return of free snacks in the economy section. More airlines, after years of cost-cutting measures, say they now feel comfortable in ponying up a cookie or two. Some advice: don't expect extra leg room any time soon.
