What to know now:

1. Bill Cosby charged: Bill Cosby was charged Wednesday in Pennsylvania with a felony count of aggravated indecent assault, a felony. Cosby, who has been accused of assault by scores of women, was charged in the  incident that happened in 2004.

2. Midwest flooding: Residents of the Midwest are keeping a watchful eye on the Mississippi River as it continues to rise, flooding the region.  Meteorologists say the water may reach, and, in some places surpass, the level of the historic 1993 floods.

3. Affluenza mom: Tonya Couch, mother of the so-called "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch, was deported to the United States after being detained in Mexico Tuesday. Couch  and her son fled to Mexico earlier in the month when it became known that Ethan allegedly had violated his probation for a DUI conviction. Ethan Couch was granted a three-day stay in his deportation case.

4. What are you doing New Year's Eve: The College Football semifinals will kick-off Thursday afternoon, with the winners set to meet in the championship game on Jan. 11. No. 1 Clemson will play No. 4 Oklahoma in Miami at the Orange Bowl, with No. 2 Alabama taking on No. 3 Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. The games will be broadcast on ESPN at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

5. Looking for a refund: Thursday is the deadline for customers of  Sprint and Verizon Wireless to file for a refund from a $158 million Federal Communications Commission settlement over mobile "cramming." Customers were being billed for certain services – horoscopes, scores of sporting events, text-messaging subscriptions – without ever having asked for those services.
