What to know now:

 1. Obama's speech: President Obama pledged that the United States will "continue to hunt down terrorists" as he spoke to the nation from the Oval Office Sunday. The speech was meant to calm the nerves of the nation following the shootings  in San Bernardino and the recent terror attacks in Paris and elsewhere around the world.  The president said of the shootings last week in California, that while they were an act of terror, it does not appear they are connected to a larger terror network.

2. Carter's cancer: Former President Jimmy Carter said Sunday a recent brain scan showed no trace of the cancer he was diagnosed with last summer. Carter, 91, has been undergoing treatment for metastatic melanoma. He was given immunotherapy treatments using the drug pembrolizumab. He said he will continue the treatments. "My most recent M.R.I. brain scan did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots nor any new ones," he said in a statement.

3. Falwell advice: The president of Liberty University suggested at a gathering last week that it would  be a good idea for students to carry concealed weapons. Jerry Falwell Jr. told students at the school's convocation Friday, two days after the shootings in San Bernardino, Calif., that "If some of those people in that community center (the Inland Center in San Bernardino) had what I've got in my back pocket right now, then…"  He later said, "If more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they, before they go out there and kill."

4. Final four set: Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama and Michigan State are the four teams set to play for  the 2015 College Football Championship. The playoff  committee announced Sunday that Clemson and Oklahoma will meet in the Orange Bowl and Alabama will take on Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl. Both games will be played on Dec. 31. The winners will go on to the championship game on Jan. 11.  Check  out all the other bowl game match-ups here.

5. Reality star's brother missing: Authorities are looking for the brother of reality TV star Kristin Cavallari after his car was found abandoned along a Utah interstate.  Michael  Cavallari's Honda Civic appeared to have hit a rock and was found on Nov. 27, still running with Cavallari's phone and personal effects inside. Kristin Cavallari is married to NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.
