A mother and her boyfriend were arrested Friday in the murder of 'Baby Doe,' a little girl who was found in a trash bag washed along a Boston Harbor island in June.

Here are a few things to know as the case continues to develop.

Who is 'Baby Doe'?

Investigators identified the body that washed ashore on Deer Island as Bella Neveah Amoroso Bond Friday.

The girl, just shy of 3-years old, was bright and loved country music, according to MyFoxBoston.

What happened?

The body, along with a zebra print fleece blanket, were found in a plastic trash bag by a woman walking her dog June 25. The search for the identity of the girl, estimated to be 4-years old, gained national attention.

In a matter of weeks the image had reached an estimated 47 million people on Facebook. Police received thousands of tips with possible identities.

One panned out and investigators got a search warrant for Rachelle Bond's apartment Thursday. Officials plan to release more information about Bella's death Monday.

Who are the suspects?

Rachelle Bond, the mother, was arrested and charged with accessory to murder after the fact and Michael McCarthy, her boyfriend, was charged with murder Friday.

Bond, 40, has previous prostitution related charges. McCarthy has known drug issues, according to MyFoxBoston.

Officials have not offered a possible motive.

"That's always a perplexing matter for us," Conley said during a press conference Friday. "Why does anyone kill a 2-year-old child? What could she have done?"

Bond appears to be a doting mother from her numerous Facebook posts and photos of Bella.

"Look at my Bell," Bond wrote. "The outfit isn't supposed to be a catsuit ...Love her to death. I am on top of the world because of her."

Where there previous signs of abuse?

Yes.

The Department of Children and Families had contact with Bond when she was a baby twice for neglect. Officials opened cases from August to December 2012 and June to September 2013. After help was provided those cases were closed.

When her body was discovered in June, officials did welfare checks on children in her age-range. Her case was closed, and not among those in the sweep.

"Since June, the Department has been working closely with law enforcement on exploring dozens of leads in hopes to identify the little girl found on Deer Island," Rhonda Mann. DCF spokeswoman said in a statement. "Now that we know her name, the story is no less tragic."

Bond also lost her parental rights for her two older children between 2001 and 2006, according to MyFoxBoston.

What's next?

District attorney Daniel Conley plans to release more information regarding Bella's death Monday, according to MyFoxBoston.

A candlelight vigil is planned on Deer Island Monday. A memorial was placed there as well.

It reads:

"For reasons we may never know
An angel came to our shore
Causing us to shed a collective tear
May she rest in peace and never be forgotten"
