A group of unidentified thieves in Northern Ireland was caught on surveillance video using an excavator to steal an ATM.
The raid happened early Sunday and is the eighth ATM theft in Northern Ireland this year, The Irish Times reported.
In the CCTV footage, an excavator driven by a masked man can be seen tearing the ATM from the outside wall of a convenience store as two other masked men wait outside a nearby car. The excavator drops the ATM onto the top of the car, and then the men drive away, abandoning the excavator.
The excavator had been stolen from a nearby construction site, The BBC reported.
The entire heist lasted about four minutes.
Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the people behind the ATM thefts.
"As in all of these ATM thefts, the actions of these criminals have not only caused immediate financial harm to the business targeted, but they have understandably caused fear in the community and impacted upon a vital service many local people rely on," Richard Thornton, detective inspector for the Police Service of Northern Ireland, told the BBC.
