“Cheese it — the cops” was a common line in those old black-and-white films of the 1940s and 1950s that included the Dead End Kids and the Bowery Boys.
That phrase took on a different meaning recently at a convenience store on the west side of Detroit, WJBK reported.
The Detroit Police Department reported that two men robbed the convenience store/gas station at 5:15 a.m. on March 22. One of the suspects was caught on a surveillance camera taking three cases of Cheez-Its, WJBK reported. The man was struggling to grab three cases of the snacks at the front door of the store, while a getaway car can be seen pulling up to the entrance.
The two suspects left in a silver vehicle, WJBK reported. Detroit police didn't say what else the men stole.
