A South Florida woman who called 911 to report the body of another woman in her driveway is accused of killing her, police said.
Yvonne Serrano, 51, of Coral Springs, called 911 shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday, ABC News reported.
"What's going on there?" the dispatcher asks in a recording of the 911 call obtained by the Sun-Sentinel.
“I don’t know,” Serrano said. “I don’t know, I just walked out and there is a car in my driveway with a dead body.”
In a news release, the Coral Springs Police Department identified the dead woman as Daniela Tabares, 21, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Tabares died of an apparent gunshot wound to her forehead, WTVJ reported.
Serrano was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, police said in their release.
According to investigators, Serrano and Tabares had gone to the movies together Friday night as part of a group of members of a fitness club, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The group then went to a World of Beers bar in Coconut Creek, according to the newspaper.
According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance videos showed Serrano and Tabares at the bar between 9:43 p.m. Friday and 1:25 a.m. Saturday, "conversing, laughing and drinking for several hours," ABC News reported.
Surveillance video shows Tabares pulling into Serrano's driveway at 2 a.m., and the headlights turned off five minutes later, ABC News reported.
Police said Serrano woke up in Tabares' car, washed her blood-stained clothes and erased video footage from her Ring door camera before calling 911, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
According to the Miami Herald, Tabares' Facebook page says she is from Colombia and attended high school in South Florida. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Tabares' mother with funeral costs.
