Women's soccer scored a win this week — in the U.S. Senate.
Thursday the Senate unanimously passed a resolution supporting equal pay for the women's national soccer team.
"The pay gap between the men and women's soccer team is emblematic of what is happening across our country," Sen. Patty Murray said.
The resolution isn't binding, but it does put even more pressure on professional athletic organizations to increase compensation for women athletes.
The measure is aimed specifically at the U.S. Soccer Federation. A group of players recently filed a complaint accusing the organization of wage discrimination.
