The Hill' names Congress' richest members

The Hill website lists America's richest lawmakers, which includes three from Georgia.

1. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., $188.6 million - The onetime Democratic presidential hopeful is married to Teresa Heinz, who inherited millions following the death of her husband, US Sen. John Heinz in 1991. The Kerrys married in 1995.

2. US Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., $160.1 million - Issa's wealth was generated as founder of Directed Electronics, the largest US manufacturer of car security systems.

4. Sen. John Rockefeller IV, D-WVa., $83.7 million - A large portion of Rockefeller's wealth is traced to three trusts valued at more than $80 million. His great-grandfather, and namesake, was oil tycoon John Rockefeller.

5. US Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, $73.8 million - The family of the three-term congressman founded radio giant Clear Channel Communications and is a holder in concert promoter Live Nation.

6. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., $70.2 million - First-term senator and former Virginia governor built his wealth via stock market investments in technology firms.

7. US Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., $56.5 million - The first openly gay man elected to Congress, Polis built his fortune as a venture capitalist, starting such firms as Proflowers.com.

8. US Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., $53.5 million - The two-term Republican congressman built his fortune investing in real estate and car dealerships.

9. Frank Lautenberg, D-NJ, $49.7 million - The oldest member of the Senate is the founder of payroll processing company Automatic Data Processing.

10. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., $46.1 million - The former San Fransisco mayor's wealth is largely tied to her husband's, Richard Blum, business dealings and investments. The two also are owners of San Francisco's Carlton Hotel - valued at more than $5 million.

32. US Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., $8.6 million - Price lists his largest asset as an investment fund. An orthopedic doctor, Price owns a vacant lot on St. Simons valued at more than $1 million, along with other realty properties.

35. US Rep. John Linder, R-Ga., $7.9 million - The majority of Linder's assets are tied to farmland he and his wife, Lynne Linder, own in Mississippi. The former member of the Georgia House has said this will be his final term in Congress.
