As summer approaches and people work on their beach bods, an iconic American lager is giving itself a very patriotic makeover.

From May 23 through the presidential election in November, Budweiser is replacing its name on 12-oz cans and bottles to "America" as part of a summer campaign aimed at "remind[ing] people from sea to shining sea to embrace the optimism upon which the country was first built."

"Budweiser has always strived to embody America in a bottle, and we're honored to salute this great nation," said Budweiser Vice President Ricardo Marques.

In addition to the name change, the packaging, will have phrases and lyrics central to American history, including excerpts from the Pledge of Allegiance and lyrics from "The Star Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful," according to Belgium-based Anheuser-Busch.

"We are embarking on what should be the most patriotic summer that this generation has ever seen, with Copa America Centenario being held on U.S. soil for the first time, Team USA competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games," Marques said.

Budweiser is a sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Committee and Team USA.

The brand's 16-oz cans and aluminum bottles and its 25-oz cans are also getting makeovers, with packaging showing a magnified view of the Statue of Liberty's torch, Anheuser-Busch said in a news release. The design was inspired by the brand's six Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.
