A grand jury indicted Ramirez-Sifuentes on two counts of manslaughter. Her 15-month-old daughters Savannah and Sabrina Russo were found by their mom unresponsive in the bathtub on Feb. 17, according to AP.

The twins were taken to a hospital, but were later pronounced dead.

Ramirez-Sifuentes – also known as Barbara Russo - is being held at the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Her attorney, Stan Schneider, told KTRK it was unnecessary to arrest her on Mother's Day.

“The family’s been grieving, and this is Mother’s Day. It’s just a horrible accident. And this is what happens sometimes when accidents occur,” Schneider said.

Ramirez-Sifuentes was charged with recklessly causing deaths of her children because she was cleaning and playing music while water was running in the bathtub.
