A justice of the peace in a Texas town is accused of stealing from a youth baseball team.
Daryl Peters, justice of the peace in Killeen, was accused by K-Town Raptors coach Anthony Kendrick of stealing $2,300 from his team, KCEN reported.
Kendrick filed a petition in Bell County small claims court asking Peters to return the money, the television station reported. Kendrick said he collected the $2,300 from parents to pay Peters' athletic company for game referees, but the game officials told him they officiated for free, according to KCEN.
"You're supposed to be upheld to a higher standard. You're the justice of the peace," Kendrick told the television station. "Who's to say if you're stooping that low, stealing from a youth organization, that you wouldn't stoop low and take bribes and mess with bonds."
Peters did not return telephone calls and text messages seeking comment.
