A sheriff's deputy is expected to be OK after he was shot on Thanksgiving Day in Tennessee, according to authorities.

The shooting happened just before 8 a.m. at Murphy Ole in Oakland, Tennessee, according to Ricky Wilson with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect ran after a reported robbery and shot the deputy after being found near a ditch a short while later, deputies said. The suspect ran again after the shooting and carjacked a woman at a Texaco gas station on Highway 64, according to authorities.

He then traveled into the Memphis metro area and crashed, officials said. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
