A Texas pizza delivery woman's car was stolen Wednesday night during a late-night delivery and then was abandoned after a crash, police said.
Alejandra Risini, who is deaf and a single mother, works for Pizza Hut, KTRK reported. She said she was delivering a pizza Wednesday night when a 20-year-old man stole her car from the Kingwood Hospital parking lot, the television station reported.
"I don't know what I'm going to do without the car," Risini told KTRK.
Risini told investigators she pulled up to the hospital entrance and parked, leaving her keys in the ignition. That is when authorities said George O'Brien, of Houston, entered the car and drove away, according to KTRK.
Risini's cellphone was still inside the vehicle, so deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office used the "Find my iPhone" app to locate the vehicle, the television station reported.
According to investigators, O'Brien led deputies on a chase before crashing the car into a picnic table, KTRK reported. O'Brien ran into nearby woods, but was later found and arrested, deputies said.
O'Brien was charged with felony evading and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.
In a statement, officials from Pizza Hut said workers like Risini are "the lifeblood of our business."
"We're thankful she was unharmed in what was an unfortunate situation. We're discussing ways the broader Pizza Hut team can provide support, and in the meantime, the local franchisee is working to identify new opportunities for her within the restaurant until she's back driving.
