A 16-year-old is making one last walk to raise awareness for his brother's condition.
Hunter Gandee started carrying his brother on his back across their home state of Michigan in 2014, to raise awareness about his brother Braden's condition: cerebral palsy.
Braden, 9, cannot walk without assistance.
The walk became known as the Cerebral Palsy Swagger, and was created with the goal to "get the attention of our up and coming leaders, doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs and show them the face of cerebral palsy and the need for innovative ideas in mobility aids and medical procedures."
Hunter carried Braden 40 miles on 2014. The next year, in 2015, they walked 57 miles.
This last walk will be their longest: 111 miles.
The Cerebral Palsy Swagger ends this year as Hunter starts his senior year of high school and prepares for college.
Along the way, the brothers will stop at local schools, ending at the Michigan State Capitol, according to the walk's Facebook page.
Gandee starts the last leg of the walk Monday. His brother plans to walk the last half-mile with a walker.
"I'm extremely thankful for our support and that has inspired me to keep going," Hunter said.
