The teenager accused of killing and beheading his classmate in Lawrence is expected in court Friday.
The trial for 16-year-old Mathew Borges is set to begin in November.
Borges is accused of stabbing and decapitating Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino.
The victim's body was found on a riverbank near Water Street in December 2016.
Investigators say Mathew told them he left Lee there at 7 p.m. that evening and Lee wasn't seen again until his decapitated body was found along the river on Dec. 1.
Borges is facing a first degree murder charge.
In Friday's court date, the judge is expected to discuss the motions in the case.
