There's an excellent chance Kwasi would have gotten into one or more of the top schools. The William Floyd High School student scored a 2250 out of 2400 on the SAT, which places him in the 99th percentile of students taking the exam, according to Newsday. He's also a shot-putter, a good singer, and violist for his school's orchestra, according to news reports.

But Kwasi, who says he may study medicine, is leaning toward the Ivy League school close to home.

"I think my preference is Yale," he said. "It seems to embody all the things I want in a college – the family, the wonderful education, the amazing diversity," he said.

Still, showing his smarts, he plans to wait to look at all the financial aid packages the prestigious schools are offering him.
