Lightning struck a nude beach in Miami-Dade Wednesday, injuring three men, NBC Miami reports.

At around 4:15 p.m. lifeguards had to run back to the ocean to rescue three people, just minutes after they directed swimmers to take cover from a "nasty storm," according to NBC Miami. A witness said two men were in the water wearing snorkel gear when lightning struck on the north side of Haulover Beach, WSVN reports. The third man appeared to be on the shoreline when he got struck.

“We had just closed the beach because of a lightning strike in the area 10 minutes beforehand. We were in the process of clearing the area when the strike occurred,” said Lt. Matthew Sparling of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, to NBC Miami.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said one man went into possible cardiac arrest, another was paralyzed and unconscious, and a third collapsed, NBC Miami reports.

“It looked like people were just relaxing in the water,” said a witness to WSVN. “And I thought to myself, ‘Why are people just hanging out in the water after that happened?’ But they were really kinda paralyzed. They couldn’t move, and then there was some guy face down in the water.”

The two men struck in water were taken to Aventura Hospital. One was a trauma alert and the other was in stable condition, WSVN reports. Their current conditions are unknown.

"Of 22 deaths so far this year (from lightning strikes in the U.S), 6 occurred this month. Three deaths have been in Florida," The Palm Beach Post's Kim Miller reports. In her blog, you can find out what each person was doing when they were struck -- it might surprise you.
