Actor, martial artist and ... politician? Steven Seagal hinted he might take a break from Hollywood to run for governor of Arizona.
The 61-year-old celebrity says he discussed the possibility with America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff" Joe Arpaio, but says has "a lot of other responsibilities … that may be more important." (Via Wikimedia Commons / K Zhestovskaya)
No word on what party he would run with, but we do have a hint on what might be on his platform. Seagal says the number one problem facing our country is border security.
"I think that across these borders any kind of terrorism can come and does come, and I think this is a tremendous oversight by the current administration." (VIa KNXV)
Seagal commented on his possible gubernatorial run while discussing what he said were his more important responsibilities, including a new reality series, which begins airing this month.
He's also a 7th dan black belt in Aikido and a member of Sheriff Arpaio's 3,000-member posse — an all-volunteer program that performs various duties including search and rescue and traffic control. (Via ABC)
Seagal teamed up with Arpaio to train deputies and so-called "posse members" in martial arts — all seen in his TV show, dubbed "Lawman." (Via A&E)
But of course, Seagal wouldn't be the only Hollywood action star to dabble in politics.
