restaurant in Downeast, Maine says it's getting lobsters high before killing them -- because it's more humane.

According to the Mount Desert Islander, Charlotte Gill, owner of Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound, is trying a humane way of executing lobsters.

The lobsters are placed in a box with some water and then marijuana smoke is blown through the water.

"I feel bad that when lobsters come here there is no exit strategy. It's a unique place and you get to do such unique things but at the expense of this little creature. I've really been trying to figure out how to make it better," Gill told the Islander.

The restaurant says the lobsters seem calmer and less aggressive.

They also say the THC won't impact the lobster meat.
