A skydiver died after his parachute collapsed into itself Friday night in Washington, according to authorities.

The incident was reported about 6:30 p.m. at Harvey Field in Snohomish.

The 28-year-old victim, who was not identified, was apparently practicing "advanced maneuvers" during a standard jump from 13,000 feet, Snohomish County spokeswoman Shari Ireton said in a statement. Eight other people were jumping as well.

"He (the victim) attempted an 'aggressive turn' when his parachute apparently collapsed into itself," Ireton said. "He landed hard and a nearby civilian attempted CPR."

Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene.
