Nine people were shot, at least one fatally, in two incidents Thursday night in Washington, D.C., authorities said.
One man was killed and five other adults were wounded in the courtyard of an apartment complex around 10;05 p.m., Cmdr. Stuart Emerman of the District of Columbia Police Department told The Washington Post.
Five of the victims were men and the other adult was a woman, the newspaper reported.
Emerman said injuries ranged from critical to non-life-threatening, the Post reported.
In a tweet, police said they were searching for two males "armed with an AK-style rifle."
The second shooting was reported about 30 minutes later. Three people were shot, including one man who was unconscious and not breathing, Officer Sean Hickman told the Post.
