Sheryl Crow is opening up about her cancer battle, hoping to inspire women everywhere to get regular mammograms.

It’s now been 10 years since Crow beat breast cancer. The Grammy Award winner told Hot Topics that the battle shaped everything in her life, from her relationship with her kids to her music.

“I would say the experience of having breast cancer really does inform everything. It gave me a completely different outlook on my life. It was a real game-changer for me in that I learned how to put myself first,” Crow said.

She turned 54 this year and said now nothing is slowing her down.

“I have two young boys. I love my life. I think that your age is really a state of mind,” Crow said. “I’m going camping in a couple of weeks with the Boy Scout troop. I am a single mom. I’m doing it like every other single working mom in America.”
