Several Florida cities among the '100 most diverse in U.S.'

A new study lists several Florida cities among the top 100 most diverse cities in America.

The study, conducted by WalletHub, gave each of the 313 largest cities in the U.S. a diversity score based on four diversity criteria: social class, ethno-racial, economic and household.

Tampa (No. 72) was the highest ranked Florida city on the list. Other Florida cities in the top 100 include Tallahassee (No. 74), Fort Lauderdale (No. 79) and Orlando (No. 88). Florida cities that ranked outside the top 100: Jacksonville (No. 181), St. Petersburg (No. 193), Port St. Lucie (No. 203), Miami (No. 210) and Cape Coral (No. 240).

The study found Ft. Lauderdale to have the fourth-most industry diversity and Port St. Lucie to have the least educational diversity.

Gaithersburg, Maryland, was ranked the most diverse city in the U.S., ranking first and second in ethno-racial diversity and social class diversity respectively. Jersey City, New Jersey, and Oakland, California, rounded out the top three.
