A St. Augustine man found a disturbing scene at Mickler's Landing this week.
Scott Eastman, a member of the Facebook group Mickler’s Landing Turtle Patrol, found a sea turtle that apparently washed ashore after getting wedged into, trapped and killed by a lawn chair Thursday.
Eastman said the turtle did not have a tag, so it was not previously tracked. The turtle measured about two feet in length.
A volunteer removed the chair and assessed the turtle but it was too late to save it.
There was no sign of trauma or disease, according to the volunteer, and the entanglement with the chair led to the sea turtle’s death.
