Rod Stewart has announced he has been in remission for prostate cancer, a disease that many didn't even know the rocker had.

Stewart made the announcement during a fundraising event at for the Prostate Project in England, Sky News reported.

The singer known for such hits as "Forever Young" was diagnosed with the disease during a routine checkup in February 2016 and it was caught early.

He has been in remission since July, according to Sky News.

Stewart isn't the only entertainer who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Stephen Fry announced last year that he had his prostate removed after his cancer diagnosis. Nile Rodgers and Jim Broadbent are also sharing their diagnosis as part of The Men, We are With You awareness campaign started by Prostate Cancer UK, Sky News reported.

One in eight men in the United Kingdom will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, or about 40,000 men. More than 11,000 men die from the disease every year, the BBC reported. The risk increases as men age with most cases happening in men 50 and older. Those who are obese are at an increased risk, the National Health Service said.
