Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito was checked into a psychiatric hospital on Thursday night.

TMZ reported Incognito is at a psychiatric care unit in Arizona. They report he didn't voluntarily admit himself, rather the Scottsdale Police Department completed a petition to have him admitted.

NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington also confirmed the news via tweet, writing, "Incognito is currently being treated at a facility in Arizona after what has been some very stressful times for him & those closest to him."

It's been a tumultuous few months for the football player.

Incognito also displayed some worrisome behavior this week.

"Oh, that was that was just me venting, that was self-expression, that's a piece of art. The happiest day of my life was when I got that car, and now the second-happiest day will be when I donate it to charity." (Via KSAZ)

TMZ also reported Incognito will stay at the psychiatric care unit until he goes to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
