Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz, who suffered a gunshot wound in June, has been released from Massachusetts General Hospital, the team confirmed to Boston 25 News in a statement.

"We understand that David has been released from MGH. There will be an update on his condition early next week," a spokesperson for the team wrote.

According to ESPN Deportes' Marly Rivera, a source close to the family told ESPN that Ortiz was released from the hospital Friday and will continue his rehabilitation at home.

Ortiz was shot at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He underwent surgery after being transported to Massachusetts General in an air ambulance June 10.
