A man who was convicted for having sex on the beach was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison, according to reports.

The Bradenton Herald reports Jose Caballero received the sentence Monday morning. In addition, both he and the woman he was caught with, Elissa Alvarez, will have to register as sex offenders.

Caballero and Alvarez were convicted in May on two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. They were arrested in July 2014 after they were recorded on a Gulf Coast beach having sex.

According to the AP, Alvarez was sentenced to time served.
