A Belmont soldier killed in the Vietnam War was finally laid to rest Saturday.
Sgt. Bunyan Price Jr.'s body received a hero's welcome at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Thursday morning.
In February, the Army found Bunyan Price's remains in Cambodia near the spot where his helicopter was shot down in 1970.
Bunyan Price's brother, Dennis Price, spoke about the homecoming.
"He's been gone for 45 years, and now he is going to be finally laid in peace," he said.
Residents lined the streets of Belmont with raised American flags watching the funeral procession for Bunyan Price, who was buried with full military honors.
"I was overwhelmed. Belmont went all out," Dennis Price said Saturday. "We're glad it's a closure and not a worry."
Family members were happy to see so many strangers gathering with them to say goodbye.
"I want to thank each and every person for honoring my brother. He deserved it. He died a hero," Price said.
