A puppy that tested positive for methamphetamine and heroin after his owner was arrested on drug charges has found a new home.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 7-month-old puppy, Bubba, went up for adoption Wednesday after making a full recovery. A family "rushed over" to O.C. Animal Care in Orange, California, and adopted him, the Times reported.

"We are so excited for Bubba!" O.C. Animal Care posted on Facebook. "He found his perfect match today, and after a tumultuous start in his young life, this little guy is finally getting the happily ever after he deserves. O.C. Animal Care staff will miss you, but we are so excited for the wonderful life you have ahead of you. Congratulations to Bubba and his new forever family!"

One member of Bubba's new family is a former police officer, the Times reported.

"It's kind of unique that Bubba came in due to an arrest by a police department and is adopted by a retired police officer," Ingram told the Times. "I think that's great."

In March, police found Bubba in a hotel room amid used needles and narcotics as they served Joshua West, 40, an arrest warrant, according to CBSLA.com.

Workers with O.C. Animal Care immediately noticed Bubba, a terrier mix, was acting "lethargic," according to CBSLA.com. The conducted a urine test on the dog, and he tested positive for meth and heroin.

West was arrested and charged with drug possession.
