It was any club in any city, but Monday morning, the nightclub Pulse was in the minds and hearts of people around the world, the site of the deadliest mass shooting on U.S. soil.

But what do we know about the nightclub

Pulse is located at 1912 South Orange Avenue. Across the street sits a Dunkin Donuts. A block away is an Orlando fire station.

The club calls itself "Orlando's Premier Gay Nightclub" and Saturday marked Latin Night featuring Reggaeton, Bachata, Merengue and Salsa music, The New York Times reported.

Pulse is divided into three zones, each area having its own theme and music and regulars at the club said it was often packed with customers jammed shoulder to shoulder.

The main dance floor is called "The Jewel Box," The New York Times reported.

It is owned by Barbara Poma, who posted this message on the club's website:

Like everyone in the country, I am devastated about the horrific events that have taken place today. Pulse, and the men and women who work there, have been my family for nearly 15 years. From the beginning, Pulse has served as a place of love and acceptance for the LGBTQ community. I want to express my profound sadness and condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Please know that my grief and heart are with you.
