‘Prank that went terribly, terribly wrong’: Man set on fire by friends, police say

Two New Jersey Men Charged for Allegedly Lighting Friend on Fire

A man who had crashed on the couch at a friend’s place was awakened by them setting him on fire, police said.

And when Ray Muellen tried to run away from them, he said one commented "I'll show you how it's done, Dave," as they sprayed lighter fluid on the flames already burning Muellen, NJ.com reported.

He claims that when he tried to leave, the men took his keys and teased him when he asked for them to be returned, but eventually threw them to him. He drove to his mother's house who then took him to the hospital, NJ.com reported.

Police called the case a “prank that went terribly, terribly wrong.”

It happened on March 15 in Hamilton, New Jersey, but Muellen is still recovering.

Muellen suffered third-degree burns over 30% of his body, requiring him to have skin grafts and blood transfusions, according to NJ.com.

He says he has also lost feeling and movement in his fingers.

David Sult and Brandon Perez were charged with aggravated arson, aggravated assault and conspiracy, KYW reported.
