Hormel Foods Safety LLC has voluntarily recalled jars of its popular Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread because "jars may contain small pieces of metal shavings."
In total, the recall is for 153 cases, which is more than 1,800 pounds of the product.
The botched product could cause choking, gastrointestinal perforation or infections.
From the FDA website: "The recalled product is limited to 16.3 ounce jars with a 'Best If Used By' date of DEC1416LR1 with a package UPC code of 37600-10500."
The product in question was sold at Publix, Target and Walmart stores in Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina, Delaware, Virginia and Arkansas.
Hormel is issuing the recall as a precautionary measure even though no incidents have been reported.
No other Skippy products are being recalled.
