The police report said that early Saturday, Martin's boyfriend said Martin jokingly slapped Orsborn across the face. Then Orsborn pulled out a .22 revolver and shot Martin, according to the police report.

But ActionNewsJax in Jacksonville spoke to Jamie’s roommate, who said this was an accident. She said earlier, Orsborn emptied the bullets from the gun but didn’t realize there was still one bullet left in the chamber.

That roommate said that when Orsborn pulled the trigger, he was not expecting a bullet to come out and hit Martin.

ActionNewsJax also learned Martin’s children were asleep inside the home when the shooting happened.

Witnesses said Orsborn ran off after the shooting. Police said he was later arrested at his home.

ActionNewsJax reported that Orsborn should have never had a gun in the first place because he’s a convicted felon. ActionNewsJax also discovered that Orsborn was arrested a few years back on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. He has faced multiple drug charges, as well, ActionNewsJax reported.

Neighbors like Annette Chance said that when they heard what happened, it didn’t sit well with them.

“I’m in shock; it’s something I’m not used to hearing,” Chance said.
