Police say UberX driver Gerald Montgomery hurried back to the home where he picked up the woman and tried to break in.
While Montgomery knew the woman was out of town, he didn't know she had a roommate. Reuters reports Montgomery gave up when the "homeowner observed his actions."
News9 reports cops arrested Montgomery after the victim sent her roommate a picture of the driver and her receipt.
UberX quickly released a statement saying the company “takes rider safety very seriously.” They continued “upon learning about this incident, we reached out the rider. We immediately removed the driver's access to the Uber platform, pending an investigation. We continue to be in contact with the rider and will assist the authorities in whatever way we can."
The Denver Post writes Montgomery,"has no criminal record in Colorado." He may soon. The driver is in jail for suspicion of attempted second-degree burglary.
