Authorities said they do not suspect foul play in the death of Sarbesh Gurung, whose mother reported him missing Tuesday after she put him down for a nap.

Update 9:45 a.m. EDT July 3: Police said Sarbesh was found in a family member's car around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The car was within the search area scoured Tuesday by officials and volunteers.

Denton police Chief Frank Dixon said Wednesday that the vehicle had dark-tinted windows and a sunshade up, "so it was nearly pitch black" inside.

"We don't know if the car was unlocked. We don't know if -- you know, we just don't know," Dixon said. "We have nothing leading us to believe that this was an intentional act of homicide."

He said an autopsy will be performed to determine Sarbesh's cause and manner of death.

"As you can understand, the family is just devastated," Dixon said.

Original report: Police are searching for a missing Texas toddler who reportedly vanished from his Denton home Tuesday.

According to WFAA-TV, the boy's mother told police that she last saw her 2-year-old son, Sarbesh Gurung, when she put him in bed for a nap at their home on West Prairie Street. When she returned to his room later, he was no longer there, she told officers.

Authorities said Sarbesh is Asian and was wearing a blue-and-white plaid shirt when he disappeared.
