Seven people have been charged with first-degree money laundering after Houston police raided an illegal game room for the fourth time, KTRK reported.
It was the fourth raid of the south Houston game room, according to KHOU, and comes after a yearlong investigation into money laundering, according to Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen. So far, five of the people charged have been arrested, KHOU reported.
Authorities told reporters the game room takes in between $60,000 and $100,000 daily.
"This is a game room that steals from people on fixed incomes. There's crime that happens in and around these places," Rosen told reporters. "We've had people use Lone Star cards that they've traded off to gamble."
The same game room was raided in February while a large number of people were gambling inside, KHOU reported.
Rosen said his department received several anonymous complaints about the game room, KTRK reported. The constable told reporters the people arrested are heavily involved in the gaming industry.
"We have $14-an-hour workers who are being arrested. We're coming after the owners," Rosen said.
