Two New Hampshire police officers were shot early Friday morning.
The shootings took place in Manchester in separate locations.
A manhunt for the suspect took place Friday morning; by Friday afternoon, police said they were no longer searching for the suspect, but declined to confirm if he was in custody.
A shelter in place was recommended for the area while police searched for the armed suspect, who was described as white, with long hair and wearing a trenchcoat.
Manchester Police said both officers were taken to local hospital. One officer has been released and the other officer is in stable condition.
STATE LEADERS RESPOND
U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte released a statement Friday, calling the shootings a reminder that "our public safety officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe." Senator Ayotte went on to say that she was grateful to the officers for their courageous service to the people of Manchester and wished them a swift recovery.
New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan thanked the officers for their bravery and service in a tweet sent out Friday morning.
