A police officer in Massachusetts was arrested and accused of raping a child and indecently assaulting another child, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's office.

Dartmouth police Officer Shawn Souza, 37, was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Souza is being charged with rape of a child by force, rape of a child aggravated by age difference and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14.

It is alleged all incidents happened in Dartmouth.

He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Monday morning.

A report from the Department of Children and Families triggered the investigation into the allegations. The Bristol County District Attorney's Special Victim's Unit is leading the investigation.
