A Florida man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend then resisted police officers when they attempted to arrest him.
Daniel Hitt spit on his girlfriend, pushed her, damaged her car and began the assault by rubbing hand sanitizer into her face while she was driving, according to an arrest report.
Hitt is facing charges of battery, battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with violence, simple assault with the intent or threat to do violence, disorderly intoxication and two counts of criminal mischief between $200 and $1,000. Hitt, 19, remains in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $6,000 bail.
The woman told Tequesta police that Hitt rubbed sanitizer into her face and head and that it got into her eyes and nose while she was driving. Hitt then kicked two air-conditioner vents in the woman’s car, damaging both. When the couple got to their destination, Hitt threw the woman against the car and spit in her face, the report said. Hitt followed by tearing the woman’s shirt off, hitting her on the shoulder and then denting her car.
When police arrived, the woman still had sanitizer in her eyes, the report said.
While speaking to the woman, police received several disturbance calls at an apartment at 112 Lighthouse Circle. They found Hitt, who claimed that the woman hit him. Police said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Hitt.
When police attempted to arrest Hitt, he tried to run into a residence, the report said. Hitt spit in the face of one officer then tried to kick out the windows of a patrol car. Once Hitt’s legs were shackled, he attempted to head-butt a window in the patrol car.
