Police: Man fires at 'zombie,' nearly hits sleeping resident

Ryan Mathew Stanislaw is not the zombie hunter that he thought he was.

The 24-year-old North St. Paul, Minn., man was arrested last weekend after he accidentally shot at a man who was sleeping in his home. The man alerted authorities at 5 a.m. Saturday after a bullet entered through the man's window and ricocheted near the head of the man's bed before striking a second wall.

Stanislaw told police that he had intended on shooting “a zombie” just up the road.

“I’m out here making sure my neighborhood is safe,” he told officers, who reported that Stanislaw had an AR-15 rifle over his neck when they approached him and smelled of alcohol. “I didn’t see the cops, so I figured I’d do something.”

Stanislaw used green-tipped Hornady .223-caliber bullets, which are specifically marketed as zombie-killing bullets.

A must have. Cheaper by the case.

This isn’t Stanislaw’s first run-in with the law, as he was convicted last month of making terroristic threats.
