Sharpsburg police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who allegedly stole an electric scooter from a disabled person’s van.

Officer Brian Hoebel said multiple thefts occurred in Sharpsburg at around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

In one of the thefts, the suspect broke into a locked van and stole an EZ Rider mobility scooter valued at more than $3,000. He also stole other items from the van.

Hoebel said the suspect made at least two separate trips to the van.

The officer added that police have video of the act and released surveillance pictures in hopes of identifying the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sharpsburg Police Department.
