A child in Florida remains in critical condition at a hospital Saturday after a near-drowning, according to city police.

Investigators say children were playing near a pool in West Palm Beach Friday evening when one of the kids was pushed into the deep end of the pool. The child did not know how to swim, police said.

The unidentified child was pulled from the pool minutes after and those on scene started CPR. Police officers continued to perform CPR until the child was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. As of Saturday morning, the child remains in critical condition.

The incident appears to be an accident, police said.
