A Pennsylvania doctor is under fire, accused of shooting and killing a lion with a bow and arrow.

According to The Associated Press, Zimbabwe's National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority accuses Jan Casimir Seski of Murraysville, Pennsylvania with killing the lion in April near Hwange National Park.

The AP reported that Seski did not have approval to hunt on land where hunting is prohibited.

The land's owner was arrested and is helping police in their investigation.

Seski is a gynecological oncologist who works at the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He is an active big-game hunter, who has been profiled on safari outfitter and bow-hunting sites, with photographs of him standing near dead animals including elephants, a hippo and various antelopes, according to The AP.

Seski did not respond to The AP's requests for comment.

Seski is the second American in recent days to be accused of illegal big-game hunting in Zimbabwe.

James Palmer, a Minnesota dentist, was accused last week of hunting Cecil the lion, who was apparently baited from his protective enclosure. Officials in the African country are trying to extradite Palmer, The AP reported.

Palmer went into hiding after the hunt came to light.
