Investigators are asking for the public's help finding those responsible for hanging a dog from a bridge.

The medium-sized, brown and white pit bull mix was found Wednesday morning tied to a metal chain and hanging from a small bridge on Kelly Lake Road in DeKalb County, Georgia, police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

The dog, which had no collar or tags, was deceased and taken to the University of Georgia for a necropsy, she said.

“Detectives are looking to identify a possible owner of the dog and any information about who may be responsible,” Parish said. “They believe this was an intentional act.”

The bridge in question spans a small creek, Parish said.

Anyone with information regarding the dog, its owner or those who may be responsible for its death is asked to contact DeKalb County police at 678-406-7929.
