Photos: Fort Hood, Texas shooting

An attack by multiple gunmen inside Fort Hood, Texas, left nine people dead and as much as 30 wounded, Thursday.

Cone says that all the casualties took place at the base's Soldier Readiness Center where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan has been identified as the shooter. He was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July.

Fort Hood, Texas is located 85 miles north of Austin.

The shooting began around 1:30 p.m.
