According to The Associated Press, Jordan Anchondo, a 25-year-old mother of three, and her husband, Andre Anchondo, were picking up some school supplies at the El Paso Walmart on Saturday when the gunman opened fire.

Both Jordan, who had been holding her infant son, and Andre were among the 20 people killed, their family told the AP. Their baby reportedly suffered broken bones after his mother fell.

"From the baby's injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him," Jordan's sister, 19-year-old Leta Jamrowski of El Paso, told the AP. "So when she got shot, she was holding him and she fell on him, so that's why he broke some of his bones."

Jamrowski told CNN that Andre tried to protect Jordan from the bullets, as well.

"I love the guy," Koteiba "Koti" Azzam, one of Andre's friends, told the AP. "He had the character and the charisma."

Jordan and Andre also shared two other children, who are 2 and 5 years old, CNN reported.
